Laura fell in love with comedy the moment she was born. Literally missing her April Fool’s due date by 15 minutes due to an umbilical cord around her neck taught her the value of timing. Friends and family most likely argue that the lack of oxygen at birth has been beneficial to her comedy career.
Hailing from Olney, Maryland, Laura rarely had a dull moment in the Prangley household with three sisters & a brother. Her parents took her to see stand up comedy as a surprise 16th birthday present at the DC Improv. She signed up for improv classes at the club shortly thereafter and started performing for audiences at 17.
While a communication student at Virginia Tech, Laura became a regular at Attitudes Comedy Club in Blacksburg, Virginia. Summers in college were spent training at The Upright Citizens Brigade.
Since making her move to NYC in June of 2008, she has set foot on a number of stages including: Carolines on Broadway, New York Comedy Club, Stand-Up NY, Laugh Lounge, Comic Strip, and Gotham. She’s competed “Amateur Night” at the DC Improv, “Opie and Anthony’s Funniest Listener Contest” and The New York Comedy Contest. She currently hosts and produces Too Soon at The Peoples Improv Theater, Alumni Comedy Show , A Punchline Grows in Brooklyn , and Uncorked at City Winery. She’s also a contributing writer for The Collared Sheep , Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live, and has performed in sketches featured on ComedySmack, Comedy Central, and Funny or Die.
I like a girls who knows how to cheer. But the lady on the left is scaring me. Points off for making a cameo in my nightmare later.
